Shawnee Falls Home “an historic Bed and Breakfast for lovers of art, nature, and cuisine”

Beside a natural 60-foot wide cascading waterfall, surrounded by gardens inviting illustration and meditation, just a block from the Delaware River and a mile from The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, in the charming Pocono Mountain village of Shawnee-on-Delaware, Pennsylvania, sits Shawnee Falls Studio, Gallery & Guesthouse, an 18th-century vernacular Federal clapboard and stone farmhouse--home of artist, Gwendolyn Evans, and her historian husband, Bill Caldwell. Only 75 miles from NYC, this artistically-decorated guesthouse offers three non-smoking bed and breakfast accommodations in walking distance to hiking trails, golf, restaurants, Playhouse, and General Store, and is only a 5-minute drive to fishing, boating, and skiing.

Shawnee Falls Studio, Gallery & Guesthouse is ideal for those interested in art, offering year-round classes, workshops, and private lessons with Gwendolyn, a Rhode Island School of Design Masters Degree honors graduate, whose work has been shown in more than 80 juried exhibitions, garnering numerous awards. Consider a watercolor or drawing class with Gwendolyn who has been painting and inspiring students for more than four decades. Immerse yourself in her 6-day workshop, a one-day class, or a private lesson designed to meet your specific needs. Consider sitting for your portrait which Gwendolyn will complete during your 2-night stay. The Studio, equipped with tables and easels for guests’ use, and Gwendolyn’s Gallery are available anytime to B&B guests and open to the general public Wednesday through Saturday, 10 to 4.

Bill, an avid hiker, will tell you about nearby trails, including the Appalachian Trail. You may even accompany him and the Caldwells’ two Bernese Mountain Dogs on a hike. Following your outdoor fun, relax with complimentary beverage and homemade cookies on the 36-foot-long deck overlooking the falls. After dinner at a nearby restaurant, snuggle under a down-quilt with a good book from the thousands in the Caldwell library, or enjoy a DVD or CD from the Caldwell’s film and music collection.
